Overview
Whether you’re biking in Grizedale Forest, staying on one of our fully inclusive school packages or paying homage to Beatrix Potter, groups and schools will easily fall for YHA Hawkshead’s Regency charm. This tranquil lakeside location overlooks Esthwaite Water and offers handy facilities like a separate meeting and classrooms (with whiteboard) and free Wi-Fi. School trips and walking groups can relax with a game of pool, enjoy the lake views or use our ample grounds and gardens to let off a little steam.
For school groups, YHA Hawkshead has a wealth of opportunities for pupils of all ages, our dedicated classroom space is perfect for older groups carrying out important field studies, while the hostel location is superb for groups wanting to explore the heart of the Lake District on their own adventures. For schools wanting that little bit more, we offer a range of fully inclusive packages. These include our ever popular Alex Rider packages, where each student receives a free copy of ‘Stormbreaker’, and our new Discovery package. YHA Hawkshead can also offer a range of adventurous activities which can be added as an upgrade to you package or as an addition to your self-led stay.
Social groups staying at the hostel can also enjoy our bar, fully stocked with local ales, and can also take advantage of our great groups catering options. There’s also free Wi-fi available in our spacious social areas, plus outdoor magazines to get you inspired. We even have a range of bikes for you to hire, including electric ones! Adventure lovers will find Go Ape just a couple of miles away – a fantastic team building opportunity for schools and groups alike. Literary buffs can discover the famous attractions like Hill Top Farm and Wordsworth’s Dove Cottage, while cycle groups will love how close we are to Grizedale Forest, a mecca for Mountain Bikers of all abilities.
