Situated in the stunning White Peak countryside
YHA Youlgreave is perfect for self-led groups as it's small but ideally located within reach of all the major destinations and activities the Peak District National Park has to offer- including walking, cycling and sightseeing. Not content with those activities, there is also watersports, mountain biking and rock climbing within easy reach of this former village Co-Op.
Situated in the picturesque village of Youlgreave, once the centre of the lead-mining industry, the hostel is set within the old Victorian Co-op building and is just a short 10 minute drive from the historic town of Bakewell. Its beautiful surrounding countryside and proximity to Lathkill Dale attract visitors by the thousands. Three long-distance trails pass through the village; the Alternative Pennine Way, the Limestone Way and the White Peak Way, as well as shorter walks to places such as Robin Hoods stride. The Tissington, Monsall and High Peak trails are also close by for walkers and cyclists. If you're bringing your class on a school trip, you can explore the history of the Derbyshire Dales, with attractions nearby including the nationally renowned Chatsworth Estate - just a 15 minute drive away. Also worth a visit are Haddon Hall, one of England's finest examples of a medieval manor house, which is just a short walk away from the hostel, and Matlock Bath, where you can take a cable car up to the Heights of Abraham and Gulliver’s Kingdom.
