Whether you’ve stayed with us before or are new to YHA, we encourage group leaders to organise a preview visit to your chosen hostel.
Your visit will provide the perfect opportunity for you to talk to YHA staff, gain assistance with completing essential paperwork, and get first-hand experience of the activities available. Plus, if you have a distance to travel, or you just want longer to explore the surrounding area, we are happy to offer you free overnight accommodation at your chosen hostel too.
You can book your planning visit with us once you have confirmed your booking with us.
As well as this we also have a generous free leader place ratio of 1:10.
Terms and conditions
Subject to availability. Full board group bookings can claim a free bed and breakfast stay for up to two people prior to your residential stay. Half board, bed and breakfast and self-catering groups bookings will be chargeable at the standard overnight rate. All free planning visits can only be confirmed once your group booking has been made.
In addition to hostel pre-visits we also run a series of familiarisation events throughout the year. During these events we invite teachers/group leaders and their families around a number of hostels, demonstrate a selection of the activities available, and offer the chance to sample the delights of our groups menu.
Details of future events will be available soon.
Learning Outside the Classroom
YHA has been awarded Learning Outside the Classroom awards at more than 70 hostels across England and Wales, reassuring teachers that we're the right choice for educational school trips.
Safety & security
Safeguarding children is our priority and we work closely with industry leading experts, including the DBS and the NSPCC, to ensure that our child safeguarding practises are over and above those required by law.
“I heard about the teachers’ weekend at YHA Eden Project through my school. My family and I jumped at the chance to spend the weekend there and were warmly welcomed at check-in with refreshments and a relaxed, informal atmosphere. We had a tour of the Snoozeboxes and a talk by staff, which was very informative; providing clear details about what could be offered and guidance on booking school trips.
The rest of our time was spent exploring the incredible biomes, enjoying ice-skating and gorging on wonderful food. After a long day we headed back to the Snoozebox. We were very comfortable and surprisingly non-cramped for a family of four - a very clever design that was clean, cosy and well presented.
We had a brilliant weekend and it has left me full of enthusiasm in reporting back to my school and recommending a residential at the Eden Project. I look forward to making a booking soon. Many thanks to you all!"
