We know how important it is for young people to experience extraordinary adventures. That’s why we’ve joined forces with Walker Books and author Anthony Horowitz to create unique action-filled YHA Alex Rider adventure packages.
This pioneering programme has two adrenaline-fuelled missions to embark on. Both packages give students the opportunity to build lifelong skills centred around team building and outdoor pursuits. At the beginning of the programme, each pupil will create their very own spy name, helping them to get into character and immerse themselves in the Alex Rider world.
Mission Briefing
This is our entry-level Alex Rider package where students can accelerate their skills in orienteering, archery, team building, fire lighting, shelter building, gadget design, code breaking and more.
Delivered with an exciting spy narrative, the package includes all daytime and evening activities, giving students the chance to fully immerse themselves in life as a spy. Plus, we have many sessions tailored to this package including code breaking sessions, gadget design, observation skills and a hunt for a double agent.
Classified Mission
Looking for something a bit more adventurous? Our Alex Rider Classified Mission package encourages students to put their best foot forward with jam-packed activities such as scrambling up a ‘real’ rock, canoeing across lakes, designing new spy gadgets and deciphering codes.
As part of a two, three or four-night residential experience, you’ll see students boost their bravery, enhance confidence and work together to enjoy an all-encompassing learning experience.

From the moment we arrived, the special agent mission and new agent names got the group instantly hooked. All the activities linked to the spy theme and gave the trip a new element. The last day’s activity which led to the discovery of the Alex Rider books hidden in a room was brilliant! It meant we had 30 copies of the book (a rare thing indeed) and we started reading as a class as soon as we got back.
