There are many reasons why we think you should choose YHA for your next school residential: the fact that we have over 100 inspiring sites in some of the best locations in England and Wales, we have more LOtC accredited sites than any other educational visit provider, we offer both self-led and organised educational trips, we provide free preview visits for teachers where we can help you with your paperwork, and we have a generous bursary fund available, are probably great places to start! Plus, in addition to all of this we have wonderful staff who are genuinely committed to ensuring you have the very best residential experience ever.
Working together with teachers and industry experts, we have taken a new look at our flexible residential options and National Curriculum linked activities. Whether you want to run a self-led residential or would prefer for YHA staff to deliver the activities for you, want to choose from our menu of breakfast, picnic lunches and evening meals, or perhaps you want a bespoke combination of all the above, we can help plan the break of a lifetime at a price to suit your budget.
Because we are a not-for-profit organisation the money we make goes straight back into improving our facilities and keeping our prices affordable. Though we are extremely proud of our heritage, the YHA of today has come a long way so if you haven’t stayed with us in a while, we recommend you come along and see the changes. Following a decade of refurbishments and renovations, investment of over £30 million since 2011, plus the addition of some brand new sites, our accommodation network is looking better than ever.
Safety and security
Safeguarding children is our priority and we work closely with industry leading experts, including the DBS and the NSPCC.
Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC)
We have been awarded Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) Awards at more than 70 of our Youth Hostels.
We have years of experience in providing brilliant residentials that can deliver positive, powerful outcomes.
Great group facilities
When your group stays with us you can be assured that our hostels will be in the places you want to be. From country house retreats surrounded by glorious countryside, to seaside escapes right on the beach, bolt-holes near to the bright lights of the big city, or even mountainside bases 1,000 feet above sea level. All of our group hostels provide the facilities you need plus a few extras you probably wouldn’t anticipate.
Uniquely our bursary scheme, Breaks for Kids, offers up to 50% funding to cover the cost of YHA accommodation and food for children from low income households. We believe that every child has the right to broaden their horizons, skills, confidence and self-reliance during a brilliant residential, whatever their family’s means. No young person should miss out because they cannot afford it.
Our friendly team are here to make sure you have everything you need to enjoy an inspirational and unforgettable group break at great value prices. The incredible variety of low-cost options available from us means that an amazing residential can be arranged to suit every pocket. But, if you’re still unsure, contact us and we can organise for you to enjoy a free preview visit at your chosen hostel. We’re certain that once you see our group accommodation for yourself you’ll be suitably impressed!

YHA was wonderful in providing us with accommodation and assisting us with activities and information. The hostel was beautiful and the breakfast was very good. The staff were always very helpful and willing to answer all of our questions.
This is the third year we have been back to the hostel for our GCSE revision weekend and it has once again been fantastic in every way. The Morton room is brilliant for our needs.
A huge thank you to the evening kitchen staff who were polite, friendly and accommodating. This is the third time of visiting the YHA in London and by far the most organised for meal set-up. Thank you.
