Bursaries for school groups

Uniquely our bursary scheme, Breaks for Kids, offers up to 50% funding to cover the cost of YHA accommodation and food for children from low income households. We believe that every child has the right to broaden their horizons, skills, confidence and self-reliance during a brilliant residential, whatever their family’s means. No young person should miss out because they cannot afford it...

Charitable fund

YHA’s charitable fund has enabled more than 60,000 less fortunate children to experience new places, learn new skills and enjoy adventures alongside their peers. We’re incredibly proud to have helped enhance these young lives and hope to assist 10,000 more this year alone.

“These children are hoping to celebrate the end of their SATs exams by going to the seaside. Some children have never had a holiday. I want the children to aspire to achieve in life and dream big.”
Jane Barlow, Stoneleigh Academy, Oldham
"Children gain a great level of independence. They also gain an appreciation of local environments and how landscapes have changed over time. They bond with peers and achieve what’s impossible in the classroom. The reluctant children always have a fantastic life-changing experience.”
