Overview
YHA Sherwood forest is a superb hostel for schools and other groups. Located a 15 -20-minute walk from the Major Oak and literally across the road from the new Sherwood Forest visitors centre. The hostel is a great base for those wanting to explore the Greenwood and immerse themselves in the folklore of the legendary Robin Hood.
The hostel is a modern design with a mixture of dorm rooms and leader/teacher rooms with most of these being ensuite. The hostel has a spacious dining room, upstairs lounge and convenient drying room.
For school groups staying at the hostel the woodland opens up a world of new experiences and can be used to cover a range of curriculum areas including geography and science. The inspirational setting can also be used as a stimulus for a range of writing and art-based activities, why not inspire your children to be the next Andy Goldsworthy and create epic natural artwork from the bounty that Sherwood forest has to offer.
The new Visitors centre adds another dimension to ta visit to Sherwood Forest and developed with the RSPB as a partner it is aiming to introduce our visitors to the natural wonder of the woodland as well as the literary. For those groups wanting a little more adventure we also have a GO Ape centre nearby as well as other activities based at Sherwood Pines. We can also recommend and help to book a range of activities locally including archery, orienteering, Shelter building and a meeting with Robin Hood and his Merry Men, amongst other activities. Just ask for more details.
For non-education/social and special interest groups Sherwood offers the perfect mis of easy access to nature and urban environments. So whether it is a stress free stroll in the wood, a cycle in the park or a convenient spot to access the wider area, YHA Sherwood Forest has everything you need for a safe, relaxing and purposeful residential.
