For outdoor adventures in the heart of the Brecon Beacons, look no further than YHA Llanddeusant Activity Centre. This remote hostel, with stunning mountain views, has a unique combination of wildness and accessibility.
YHA Llanddeusant’s exclusivity means that your group will always be the only group on site allowing us to provide a truly bespoke and focused visit based around your groups needs and objectives. All our staff including our support staff have extensive educational experience and a passion for ensuring your group have the best experience possible.
All meals can be provided with a stunning locally sourced menu or to reduce costs you can take advantage of the self- catering kitchen.
Nationally famous walking itineraries, cross country mountain bike routes all start and finish at our door and the caves, crags and lakes that we use as our outdoor learning venues are all within 15 minutes travel time from the centre.
Every aspect of our provision is carefully designed to enhance a group’s learning potential and the overall quality of the experience. Education groups, regardless of age, ability or experience will benefit from the fact that our activity programmes are bespoke and devised in collaboration with group leaders.
Our activities are all in the natural remote and stunning backdrop of the black mountains. You can pick adventurous activities including:
Canoeing/ Kayaking, Gorge Walk, Raft Build, Stand up Paddleboarding / Mega SUP, Assault course, Caving, Climbing, Abseil, Rifles, Archery, Bushcraft, Wide Games, Team building / Team challenge / Initiative exercises, Mountain Biking (only for groups where all clients are competent on a bike.), Hike / Mountain Walk / Night Hike
Or try our art and discovery sessions including:
Woodland creation workshop, Identity in sculpture, Making druidic Amulets, Making Monsters, Totem creation.
Or add a cultural / experiential visit:
Speaking welsh, Visit Carreg Cennen Castle, Visit the Red Kite Centre, Visit the lime Kilns, Welsh Mines and Quarry’s, living history.
Or you could try our amazing Story line adventure which ties together multiple activities into a week-long mystery hunt to find the final message of the Tylwyth Teg Wales secretive and magical fair folk.
Our in-house provision means that every morning, afternoon and evening is filled with fine-tuned activities whatever the agenda. Primary schools appreciate the friendliness and accessibility of first encounters, secondary pupils will realise the full value of their experiences in the course of the session review and sixth form/college groups can be given targeted challenges and outcomes to enhance their confidence and ability to succeed together.

How to get here
By car:Â From the M4 J32 (A470 to A40). From A40 Brecon – Llandovery, turn left in Trecastle at Castle Coaching Inn. After nine miles turn left opposite the Red Kite Cafe, then it’s one mile to the hostel on the right. From the west take the A40 via Llandeilo then right for A4069 (Llangadog – Brynamman road). Turn left opposite Three Horseshoes. Follow hostel signs.
