Overview
Set within 27 acres of stunning parkland in the heart of the Peak District National Park, YHA Castleton Losehill Hall is one of YHA’s premier education centres and perfect for schools and groups of all ages.
The hostel itself is a sprawling Victorian mansion which offers the perfect mix of great facilities and period glamour. Our accommodation is split between 3 accommodation blocks: Ashton (42 beds), Burbridge (49 beds) and the Mews (52 beds) and offers free Wi-Fi, quiet rooms, games and meeting rooms, plenty of space to let off steam, and we even have our own family of goats and pigs.
For younger school groups we offer a range of unique packages including our ever popular History and Geography packages as well as our new packages: Discovery, Alex Rider, Multi Activity and astronomy focused sessions. We pride ourselves in immersing our guests into hands-on learning experiences and not only that, you’ll also find all sorts of surprises including a replica Celtic village, a purpose-built mine, an underground archaeological dig, and we even have our very own Tardis. All our packages deliver quality educational activities throughout the day and evening creating lasting memories for teachers and pupils alike.
YHA Castleton Losehill Hall is also a great location for self-led groups, older school groups and non-educational groups looking for a base to explorer the surrounding area with 3 show caves, Chatsworth House, Peveril’s Castle and the tourist honeypot of Castleton all nearby.
Other activities direct from the door include rambling, hiking or cycling in the beautiful Peak District National Park, or as a unique location for corporate events. We have two meeting rooms for hire and they come complete with full AV equipment, 6 channel PA mixer, microphone and whiteboards. Catering options are available (be sure to try our cake)and you can even add on some team building activities to challenge your colleagues.

How to get here
By car and coach:
The entrance to the hostel is on the A625 from Sheffield/Hathersage and is on the east end of the village. From the west, take the A625 from Chapel en le Frith following signs for Castleton Blue John Caverns and turn down the Winnats Pass (very steep). The detour signs from the west can be confusing and add considerably to the journey. Please follow these directions rather than Sat-nav as the postcode covers a large area.
