The hostel has good access to woodland, the river Derwent for river studies and freshwater ecology, whilst the nearby town of Keswick is perfect for studying the impacts of tourism and other related issues. Finally, the Borrowdale Volcanic group will always be a great fieldwork study for budding Geologist.
For social groups and walking and climbing groups the hostel is superbly located to access some of the most iconic climbing and walking routes in the Lake District including Scarfell Pike, Great Gable, Catbells and Castle Crag to name a few.
Additional activities and attractions nearby include Honister Slate mine, Keswick pencil museum, boat cruises on Derwentwater of for something a little different – a spot of dragon boating.
All in all, YHA Borrowdale is a superb setting for all group getaways, with great access to the surrounding landscapes and towns, and for those who like to settle down with a drink after a full day of adventure. YHA Borrowdale also boasts the best pub in the Village.
