Overview
With a £1.2 million renovation under its belt and an unforgettable pirate-themed décor, YHA Boggle Hole is an inspirational destination for groups. Tucked away in its very own smuggler’s cove, this hostel is something special. The hostel consists of two accommodation buildings (our charming Old Mill and the brand new Crow’s Nest), enjoys direct access to the coast and is surrounded by mature, wooded grounds. The Hostel also offers superb dining and classroom/conference facilities, a spacious courtyard for outdoor games and a distinctive character that makes this hostel a superb destination for groups of all ages.
For school and youth groups there is a wealth of educational opportunities. Young children will love the building and hunting for the illusive ‘boggles’. We can provide a range of quality, curriculum linked activities for KS1 and KS2 children, either as part of our Discovery Package or through half or full day bolt on activities to your self-led stay. From Seashore Safari’s on our pristine beach, to learning about a Smuggler’s Life in Robin Hood’s Bay, walking with dinosaurs to discovering the secrets of our Universe … our Discovery package and bolt-on options provide a range of engaging activities led by our experienced staff to help you and your group make the most of this superb setting. For older educational groups the position between land and sea provides a great place to study the coast and the unique geology of the area, situated as it is in the North York Moors National Park, with rocks dating from the Jurassic period, and miles of moorland to explore. YHA Boggle Hole is a great destination for geology and geography groups looking for a base for their field work studies, and with Bram Stoker’s Whitby just a few miles away, literature and art students will also find much to sink their teeth in to!
Other groups can enjoy our beachside location, perfect for exploring the Yorkshire Heritage Coast and we’re easy walking distance from Robin Hood’s Bay (a starting or finishing point for the coast to coast walk) and a short drive from Whitby. With free Wi-Fi in our social spaces, plenty of nooks and crannies for relaxing, licensed bar and a conference room, whatever you reason for choosing YHA Boggle Hole – you won’t be disappointed.
