Great base for the North Pennines and Hadrian's Wall
Want somewhere with lots of character for your stay in Northumberland? YHA Ninebanks has an atmosphere all of its own, offering great social spaces and all the facilities you need to enjoy the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. University and school trips can use our large dining room as a space for study and there’s free Wi-Fi to keep you connected, not to mention a cosy log burner for evenings.
Fancy the place to yourselves? Sole use is often possible. YHA Ninebanks is excellent for Roman history, archaeology, geology and geography field trips and is a perfect site for revision and study breaks too. Enjoy the amazing view from the sitting room, cook up a storm in the BBQ area, or enjoy breakfast, packed lunch and dinner if you’re taking over the hostel. There’s also a fab self-catering kitchen and we sell excellent local ales.
Whether you’re a hiker or a history student, our rural 300-year-old miner’s cottage is surrounded by things for groups to do. We are a perfect base to learn about Hadrian’s Wall, and visit the Roman Army Museum, and the Killhope Lead Mining Museum is a real adventure. We have partners who offer a wealth of exciting outdoor activities in our beautiful landscape such as bushcraft and ghyll scrambling. Don’t forget to do some stargazing in the garden or book the nearby local Community Observatory.
