Field trips, city breaks, outdoor activities

Working together with group leaders, we are constantly reviewing the needs of groups that stay with us. Because we are a not-for-profit organisation the money we make goes straight back into improving our facilities and keeping our prices affordable.

Though we are extremely proud of our heritage, the YHA of today has come a long way so if you haven’t stayed with us in a while, we recommend you come along and see the changes. Following a decade of refurbishments and renovations, investment of over £30 million since 2011, plus the addition of some brand new sites, our accommodation network is looking better than ever.

YHA’s charitable aim is all about getting young people outside into the great outdoors and our locations, buildings and hostel facilities are all selected to enable us to confidently fulfil this aim.

Safety and security

Safeguarding children is our priority and we work closely with industry leading experts, including the DBS, the NSPCC and LOtC, to ensure that our child safeguarding practises are over and above those required by law. All of our properties are regularly inspected for their physical safety and security, whilst our dedicated team of operational and activity staff undergo thorough training and screening programmes.

Uniquely our Breaks Programmes offer support to children with challenging lives. We believe that every child has the right to broaden their horizons, skills, confidence and self-reliance during a brilliant residential, whatever their family’s means.
